The biggest thing that we are researching right now is CodeIgniter. CI is a PHP framework which aims to increase development efficiency by providing a set of commonly used functionality required by typical websites. What this means is that a lot of the code we would normally write for a typical project will already be integrated in the framework, reducing the amount of wheel-recreating.
Another thing that we are researching is the Facebook API. Renowned Media is already the author of two facebook applications, namely Spider Lyrics (83 Users) and XSPF Music Player (2,076 Users). However the latest version of the FB API offers a lot more functionality, specifically Facebook Connect, which offers a more convenient (for the end user) login mechanism for use on third party domains.
More things being researched includes the Vimeo API (for use on whitetailworld.com) and a slew of other technologies, including your typical development IDE’s, javascript frameworks, and ORM packages.
